Serving clients with sincerity. Pursuing perfection with a pragmatic mindset

Cody Leung, Elegance’s Customer Service Manager, has worked in the financial printing industry for many years. She not only understands how to respond flexibly to the requirements of listed companies and professional listing teams, but also look after herself working within this high-pressure environment.

Cody was on the point of stepping away from the financial printing industry and her many years of experience there. However, with the rebranding of Elegance, she decided to continue challenging herself and embrace new opportunities.

Could you please briefly introduce your main duties at Elegance?

“Basically, I act as a bridge between clients and our internal teams. I need to communicate externally with clients and also internally with different departments across the company. For example, in the production of financial and ESG reports, I need to maintain close communications with the production, design, translation and proofreading teams to ensure each project is smoothly completed. I think of myself as an important partner in communicating with customers.”

 

How do you handle your busiest moments at work?

“Peak season is between March and April every year when listed companies issue their annual reports – and this is always a challenging time for us. I remember once having to issue 24 annual reports all at the same time! I managed to stay strong inside and fight through it. I need to stay calm so I can organize everything and think clearly while the different teams working around me are all extremely busy.”

 

As the main coordinator between the clients and the team, you must constantly feel stressed. Why do you stay on at Elegance?

“As well as offering comprehensive financial printing and communications, Elegance covers many other areas including advertising and also ESG, which is currently the area that clients are most interested in. Moreover, the company has worked really hard to transform and rebrand itself and my colleagues are all committed to achieving their best. At the same time, Elegance’s people-first culture has taught me to deal flexibly and smoothly with customers and any problems that arise. As an employee, I think this is the ideal working environment and atmosphere.”

 

How to do this job well? What’s your perfect work or project?

“Perhaps I'm a perfectionist but I haven’t yet felt 100% satisfied with any project. In my opinion, a perfect work must be flawless, and there can never be any mistakes no matter how many times I repeat it. Therefore, I always question everything, then check and recheck the facts to ensure every item of information is accurate. No detail is ever too small.”

 

What do you think about the future of the industry? What’s the long-term direction?

Many people in the industry are worried about going 'paperless'. However, I think this trend is inevitable. For example, our English name was changed from 'Elegance Printing' to ‘Elegance Financial Communications’ which emphasizes how clients are communicating more widely with the market. Moreover, the trend is that everyone’s “winning with technology”. Look at the tech giants – Apple, Samsung, Elon Musk – who are all exploring business opportunities within the Metaverse.

So, a Metaverse Exchange may well appear within the next 50 years. Should we take the lead and secure a firm footing ahead of the others in this new era? Also what we can expect in the future?

As for me, I hope my bosses recognize that I always try to be brave but also accept that I sometimes feel vulnerable.
